The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:33 pm.

Absent: Charlie Cobb, Pat Ingellis
Staff in Attendance: Alyssa Detmer, Recording Clerk
Robert Siegelman arrived at 7:38.
Approval of Minutes:
MOTION: to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 8, 2008 as presented.
MOVED: by Jerry Brophy; SECONDED: by Kim Gallagher; IN FAVOR: Bob Fish, Jerry Brophy, Kim Gallagher, Mike Kelley; OPPOSED: none; ABSTAINED: none; APPROVED: 4-0-0
Notable Trees Brochure:
Judy Preston from the Tidewater Institute consulted with the Commission on the layout and subject matter of the brochure. Eight of the 27 notable trees are on public property. Approval from owners would be necessary to give tree locations on private property.
Review of an Application for Variances of the Gateway Regulations on 14 Mulberry Street, Map 24 Lot 5
The Commission will research previous requests for variances of the Gateway Regulations and location of the septic system. Jerry Brophy will compose a letter to be sent to the ZBA.
Crystal Lake Fishway:
Concrete footings were poured for the structure connecting the lake to the natural fishway for water level control. Work will continue in August.
Natural Heritage Tour:
Mike Kelley reported that the Oyster River stop and the Great Cedars parking area still need maintenance. The Commission will work on getting these done as soon as possible. Due to the necessary maintenance of the stops, the Commission will hold off on printing more brochures.
